Have you ever looked at the ingredient list for something and just known in the pit of your soul that your taste buds would love it?? That's how I felt when I saw the ingredients for this vinaigrette. My friend Elaine sent me several delicious recipes recently and one of them was a dressing similar to this. Elaine and I lived next door to each other back in college and bonded instantly with our sarcastic personalities and our appreciation of all things tasty. So I'm going to pay it forward and share it with all of you, even though I've changed the recipe a bit from the original. It's fabulous on all kinds of things, especially salads involving chicken and avocado. I even used the leftovers, adding a bit more cumin and an extra garlic clove or two, to marinate some chicken breasts and they were awesome on the grill. Enjoy!
Sing it with me: "These are a few of my favorite things..."
Oranges, Lime, garlic, honey, onion, cumin, salt and pepper.

Oranges, Lime, garlic, honey, onion, cumin, salt and pepper.

Honey-Citrus Vinaigrette
1 garlic clove, minced
1/2 T grated onion
1/3 C fresh orange juice
3T fresh lime juice
2T honey
3/4 t cumin
1/2 t salt
1/4 t ground black pepper
1/2 C vegetable oil
3. Place all ingredients in a tightly sealed jar and shake your bootie (and the jar) vigorously. Store in the fridge, and shake before dressing salad.

Try it on a bed of cold romaine, with bites of creamy avocado, juicy mango, pretty red onion and slices of Spicy Honey Chicken

ooooh that looks delish Sara! I've been wanting a good dressing recipe!
This is a fantastic site.
I noticed you have a button on bbc. Do you have one we stalkers could put on our blogs?
Haha, hey rubyjade- did I guilt you into commenting?! I'll take it ;)
That's just a little jpg I hyperlinked in my bbc sig. If you want one for your blog, I'll email it to ya!

Re: Ice cream
The Kitchenaide ice cream maker is the best thing ever. Ever.
Yes, Jana, this very day I had a total fantasy that I had the ice cream attachment for my Kitchenaid. AND that I had the Cuisinart ice cream maker that my parents have. And I'd probably keep my little electric one, too, because, hey! You can never have too many ice cream makers.
I keep coming here and thinking: ok, I HAVE to try that one, and that one, and that one. Seriously guys. Do you ever run out of awesome recipes??? This is truly an awesome blog. Not to mention the witty and fun writers. This is just a party!
ooh Lisa, if you think *this* is a party- you've gotta see what's comin' next week!
Hi girls! I am here to admit that I check out your blog every once in a while. I'm also here to make an outlandish request. Some vegetarian recipes! My crazy husband became veg about a year and a half ago. Consequently I stopped cooking. I'm trying to get back into it and I need easy, quick and filling meal ideas. HELP ME and I'll love you forever. He'll eat a little fish every once in a while, and he's okay with a little dairy but not a whole dish centered on cheese. (Seriously what's wrong with this guy? Ugh.) Okay I've hijacked your comments section. Love your blog. And, oh, it's prettykatemachine from bbc. Later!
Hey, Kate, I actually just finished taking pics of a yummy vegetarian meal! I'm not planning on posting it for a couple of months, but email me (thedailybite@gmail.com) and I'll send it to you if you want! Oh, and nice name...way to copy! ;)
I'm trying this one with that honey chicken next week. I'll let you know how it turns out!
Okay, I tried this dressing last week, and let me just say it was so good I could have drank it straight from the bowl. No, seriously.
Question...Could you use a type of oil other than vegetable? I tried it with olive oil (because I don't keep vegetable on hand) but it didn't turn out. Do you think I could use canola?
Jessica, you bet. Any type of vegetable oil is fine, so canola would work great.
