Pumpkin Pie Milkshake

Are you ready for a serious confession? I don’t like pumpkin pie. That may come as a surprise since I’m obsessed with things like this and this and this. Also a surprise when considering that this time of year, I spend about 85% of my available brain power trying to discover new ways to incorporate pumpkin flavor into everyday foods. See, while there’s something about mushy orange pie that kick starts my gag reflex, there’s also something entirely intoxicating about …

Single Serving Pie in a Jar

These are individual-sized pies made in little glass jars that can go straight from your freezer to your oven to your mouth. SO cute. You can make these with store-bought crust and canned filling or jazz it up with homemade like we do.   And just for added cuteness we teamed up with crafting expert Lolly for some personalized tags.  These are just about the best little gift from the kitchen you could share with someone! Pie in Jar This is …

Homemade Pumpkin & Toasted Pumpkin Seeds

You know what I’ve been doing this week? Welcoming in Autumn. It’s now September 24th, which means it’s officially acceptable to flood my house with pumpkins and gourds and sunflowers and cinnamon candles even if it is still over 90 degrees outside. And that I did, all the while cranking the AC and putting pots of soup and chili on the stove. I love this time of year! One of the things I love the very most about fall is …

Chicken Pot Pie

A few days ago, I overheard a gaggle of my favorite teenage girls discussing the foods their moms made best, the things that reminded them of home and family. Now granted, I’m in the South, but invariably, the favorites were macaroni and cheese, chicken and dumplings, and chicken pot pie. Sara and I have discussed macaroni and cheese at great length because neither of us have found THE ONE, and I do have a chicken and dumplings recipe that I …

Homemade Cream of Chicken Soup

Okay, so…over the last year-and-a-half, Sara and I have posted nearly 300 recipes. 300. And not a single one of them contains cream of chicken, cream of mushroom, cream of celery, cream of ANYTHING soup. It’s kind of something we’ve prided ourselves on, not because we’re gigantic food snobs or anything, but mostly because a lot of stereotypical Mom/home cook recipes have cream of _________ as their backbone and we wanted to show people that you can still cook amazing, …

Cinnamon Caramel Corn with Pecans & White Chocolate {AKA Cinnamon Bun Popcorn!}

So it’s Thursday, but I thought it was only fair to post this recipe today since people in Utah get to see me cook it on TV! If you want to catch it, my (very short-really, don’t blink or you’ll miss it) segment will air Thursday Sept. 17th some time between 11am-12. I’ll do my best to avoid being a gigantic disappointment. If any of you imagine me in your head to look like Heidi Klum with spatula in hand, …

Easy Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffins

So I have this friend Tara. Sweet, quiet, soft-spoken Tara who home schools her kids and is the person in charge of the children’s programs at our church. You know the type. Turns out she has a dark side. She and her husband sometimes watch Arrested Development and 30 Rock into the wee hours of the morning (under my corrupting influence, of course!) and she makes these fabulous, easy muffins that are only 1 Weight Watchers point. And then adds …

No-Rise Dough {Cinnamon & Orange Rolls}

Some of you may be wondering why there is an image of Michael Scott, branch manager of Dunder Mifflen Scranton, on the beginning of this post. Well let me start by saying that this isn’t actually Sara typing, it’s her husband Eric. If you’re an avid reader of this blog you may feel like you know Sara. You might know she’s obsessed with chocolate and limes. You might know she can’t swallow a plain cherry tomato even if her life …

BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwiches

Okay, so I think I’m about to be mocked here. I’m all Miss Foodiepants and everything, but up until about a year ago, it had never even dawned on me to put coleslaw and pickles on BBQ pork sandwiches. Seriously. I was at one of those roadhouse-style restaurants where you can pick your own steak and throw peanuts on the floor and I ordered the pulled pork sandwiches on a whim. And I nearly died of food happiness. I like …

Southwest Burgers

I can’t believe we’re into September already! I figure before the onslaught of comfy cozy fall food hits around here (and trust me when I tell you it’s coooommmming! I’m giddy just thinking about it) I’d post one more great burger recipe. Not that you can’t make burgers year-round, you certainly can, but there is something about a good burger in the summer time. Here in Idaho where I live the temperature is still reaching the 90′s! So even though …
