I wanted to show you some of the fun I’ve been having with my Silhouette machine!
If you’ve been around here long enough, you know I love beautiful packaging. The great thing about a cute little box or bag is that it makes it perfectly acceptable to give away just a tiny bit of food. These little paper boxes were perfect for a little bag of Pretzel Turtles.
Each box was just a simple template on the Silhouette and they each took only about 5 minutes to make.
I’m kind of in love with the flowers. I just cut out a few different sizes of basic flower shapes and layered them on top of each other. A quick ruffling of the edges and a button or gem in the middle and wah-la! Fancy-Schmancy.
Cupcake wrappers are so trendy right now, as are cupcake toppers and they’re so easy to make on the Silhouette. I see many of these in my future.
Speaking of cupcakes, check out this cute box I saw on the Silhouette blog. Can’t wait to make these to give away some of these, or these, or these!
To play around with the heat transfer material, I decided to make a shirts for my older boys. I let my 4 year old pick a picture he liked and wasn’t surprised when it was this guy:
I ripped off the concept for this next shirt from Make it and Love it. I just put the design on a piece of knit and stitched it right on the shirt. Super cute!
And since my sewing machine actually came out of its deep dark abyss, I decided to make the most of it and ended up sewing all weekend! (Well after my friend Jenny came over and showed me how to thread it correctly did a major repair so it was usable). I bought these cute Halloween fabrics to use as toppers for Pie in a Jar, but decided instead to turn them into a cute banner to hang from my staircase. I used the Silhouette to add the black spiderwebs- love how it turned out (and I’m SO in love with the owl fabric in there- can you see that one??)
Next up- vinyl! I bought this dry erase board at Target for 5 bucks and transformed it into a weekly menu board. (And just so you know, I wrote all of that in purely for show. If you follow us on Facebook you know that at least 2 of the days last week should have said, “whatever cereal you can find in the pantry”)
I made this cute jar for my 2 1/2 year old. Are you wondering what “Big Boy Treats” are? Basically it’s a way to bribe him with gobs of sugar to use the toilet so I am forced to change a few less diapers each day encourage good behavior through positive reinforcement :)
This might be my favorite project, and I wish there was a way to better capture it in a photo. You can buy these glass blocks at craft stores. I’m sure you’ve all seen them. Usually people put twinkly lights inside and write an inspirational quote on the front, or use a holiday graphic, etc. I was staring at the block in the store wondering what to make when I had the thought to put a picture on the inside. I love how it turned out. The picture is on the inside, but on the far side and I put the vinyl words “Forever Family” on the very front so you get a cool 3 dimensional look. Can you imagine a gorgeous baby portrait in there with the word “Precious” on the outside? Or pics of your kids with their names? So cute.
Well that’s about all I can fit in one post! I’d love to hear your crafty ideas, or see links of fun things you’ve been making. Feel free to link in the comment section- I’d love to be inspired while all of my crafting supplies are still spread out all over my kitchen so please share!
