DIY Paper Snack Bowls {Easy!}

You know what my favorite part is about riding on an airplane?  Oh wait, let me rephrase that:  You know what my favorite part is about riding alone on an airplane??  The magazines.  Any mother knows exactly what I’m talking about because flying with children is a whole different ball game.  Reading a magazine would be quite laughable in that situation.  However over the past few months Kate and I have been traveling a ton, and I had almost forgotten …

Red, White, & Blue Fruit Pizza

I know. Some of you are saying, “Hey, Kate, it’s not 1989! Fruit pizza hasn’t been cool for, like, 20 years now.” Well, I’m here to tell you that I’m bringing it back, baby. I don’t care if it was served at the baby shower held for your mother when she was pregnant with you–it is gorgeous and delicious and no one ever told YOU you weren’t cool just because you were adorable in 1989, right? Right. Anyway, for the …

Grilled Chicken & Berry Salad

Surprise!! Before you get all excited that we’re halfway through the week and that So You Think You Can Dance is on tonight (go, Melanie!), I’m sorry to tell you that it is Tuesday and that we’re just so excited to be home and back in our kitchens that we have a couple of extra recipes this week. As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, a few weeks ago, I had Wendy’s Berry Chicken Salad for the first time and I …

Berry Poppy Seed Vinaigrette

Happy week before the 4th of July! Sara and I were talking about how we’ve kind of being holiday slackers when it comes to the blog lately, so prepare yourselves for lots of holiday- and potluck-friendly red, white, and blue recipes this week! So our friend Nathaly emailed me a few weeks ago (and, um, I never responded because I kind of suck at Facebook messaging. Lesson #1 about being friends with me on Facebook: please don’t get your feelings …

Strawberry & Chocolate Nachos

I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again: sometimes the best creations are the ones you don’t set out to create!  This might be my new favorite thing.  It’s the perfect easy, throw-together, family style dessert for summer.  I did a local tv segment this week and made my Baked Cinnamon Chips and Fruit Salsa. When I got home I had a bag full of cinnamon chips left over and started snacking. Then my boys walked in from the …

German Potato Salad

I can’t even begin to tell you guys how crazy the last few months have been–between a never-ending February-May cold, my husband’s hospital adventures, school getting out, and traveling all over the country, I am seriously beyond excited to do laundry, load the dishwasher, clean out drawers and closets, take the time to make dinner instead of throwing something desperate together, and scrub the bathtub. I feel like I’m nesting at the end of pregnancy, only I actually have the …

Weekend Update

Okay, so maybe it’s more like weekend update plus the week before, plus the weekend before that, plus the month before that, plus one more weekend before that.  Whew!  All I can say is that it’s good to be home.  Kate and I keep posts up here regularly so there’s always something for you guys to check out, but behind the scenes, things have been crazy busy around here! I thought I’d do a little re-cap so you can see …

Berry Cobbler

Last summer and fall, I can’t even begin to tell y’all how many requests we got for cobblers. I’m not sure if cobblers are largely a regional dessert or something, but aside from the traditional Dutch oven “cobbler” where you dump a box of cake mix, a can of fruit, and a can of Sprite into the Dutch oven and wait 30 minutes until it’s Business Time, I hadn’t eaten much cobbler. But I figure it’s full of things I …

Quinoa Edamame Salad

Anyone want to take a guess on how many nights I’ve slept in my bed in the last 16 days? That magic number would be 3. Right now, Sara and I are heading to Rexburg, Idaho to speak at the BYU-Idaho Business Summit (um, what?! I graduated in English!) The good news is that I get to visit my hardly-ever-visited sister and my even-hardlier-ever-visited nephews. And their dad. And my parents, who have gotten brave and are leaving their two …
