THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED: Congrats Stephanie Merrill!
Last week I mentioned that I got to guest blog on America’s Test Kitchen’s Blog, The Feed. (Click here to see my post!) I’m a long-time fan of ATK so I was thrilled to be able to test out this new book. I love the whole concept of the Menu Cookbook, because most of the stress of planning a dinner party comes from figuring out what to serve and then coming up with a plan to bring it to fruition without wanting to collapse by the time your guests actually arrive! The Menu book makes the whole process seamless. It’s organized by menus, giving you perfectly planned and proportioned dinner menus with timelines, tips, and tricks on every page. All the meals include a main dish, a few sides, and a dessert that all go together beautifully.
I prepared the “Fajitas and ‘Ritas” menu. Y’all know how much I love fajitas!

One of my favorite features is that each menu outlines a “Game Plan,” which is basically like a little personal assistant telling you exactly when and how to do each step. For example, this particular game plan tells you that the Key Lime Pie can be made a whole day ahead of time.

Also, the drinks, so I juiced a lot of limes that day!

Since I don’t drink alcohol, and there would be children at my dinner party, I made virgin margaritas , which turned out to be delicious and refreshing and a perfect compliment to the meal.
It was like a heavenly glass of a home style lemon-limeaide which everyone gulped down quickly! It was nice to have it done and chilled a whole day ahead of time.
With those two things checked off my to-do list, the day of my dinner party was pretty simple. I had some family and friends over and everyone pitched in to help out. I taught my sweet nieces how to cut avocados and they made the guacamole themselves!

Some people might think you should have every last thing prepared on on the table for a dinner party, but I actually love the process of having people pitch in, one of the best parts of a meal for me is chatting with my friends before the meal when we’re prepping food together.

Along with Fajitas and virgin Margaritas, we also had corn with lime butter, fresh guacamole, and homemade salsa. So, pretty much my favorite meal ever.

Oh, and to top it off? That amazing key lime pie. I could have eaten it all myself, for real.

I would love for one of you readers to get to enjoy this beautiful book as well, so America’s Test Kitchen has given me one to share!

Its always the first to go. Always. I made it for mt best friend for his potluck at his school, and one if his friends called me to tell me how awesome it was! Never had that before!!
My son’s favorite dish is homemade Macaroni and cheese with peas and tuna mixed in. I make that dish a lot.
My go to meal would have to be my super easy cheese and beef enchiladas. We cheat a little and use store bought corn tortillas, but they are just oh so yummy and I have yet to hear a complaint! We normally make a HUGE helping of them thinking we will have some tasty leftovers for lunch the next day, lol we have yet to have any leftover after dinner!
Our go to meal is either take out pizza or hot dogs and hamburgers on the bbq grill.

My go-to meal when there are lots of hungry people to feed is a pasta dish that I adapted from a cookbook I was leafing through once when I was babysitting and the kiddos were asleep… I saute vegetables (any that you want! asparagus, carrots, squash, whatevsies) in chicken broth and thyme, adding one veggie to the pan at a time depending on how long they take to cook, and when they’re just tender I toss them with olive oil, parmesan cheese, and penne. Top it with more cheese and serve- super fast and deeeeelish.

Anything accompanied by fresh-baked bread– it’s so simple and always impressive.
My go-to meal is french bread chicken sandwiches. I’ve never had anyone disappointed! (…or I guess anyone that’s told me if they are haha)
I’m not sure that I have a go to meal (although if pressed I’d probably say homemade pizza) but I do have a go to technique and that is BBQing. Hamburgers, marinated chicken, steaks, even pizza! And living in Phoenix where you can grill year round makes it an easy go to. Thanks for the great giveaway.

Depends on the adventure level of the guests!!
Pretzel crusted chicken with cheddar mustard sauce is my favorite to do if I’m wanting to impress. It’s easy and different from the normal breaded chicken people are used to. My go to meal lately has been bbq/smoked salmon, but the sides and dessert vary.
I don’t really have a go to meal yet for guests and don’t often have the chance to have guests over. At this point just trying to figure out how to get nutritious, varied, and palatable ob the table for 8 (several who are very young and very impatient) seems like quite the task. However I’d like to change and this cookbook would be such a help. Thank you.
French dip. I let the crockpot do all the work.
I love making your Spicy Honey Chicken. Everyone raves over it. Or if spicy is out of the question I like making a big lasagna with salad and bread to dip in oil. Would LOVE to win this. Grilled pizzas or tacos, depending on the weather…
I have a fabulous recipe handed down through my Grandma for Chicken Noodle Soup. I even make the noodles from scratch. It’s de-lish, and has turned me into quite the Chicken Soup snob. Since it makes an enormous amount, it is a great thing for company. Sometimes I even spring for some bread bowls (or make them by combining several frozen rolls together after thawing). Ahhh, comfort food…
What a great giveaway! I LOVE ATK, and a book like this is genius! That’s definitely the hardest part of hosting, is getting everything ready at the right time without killing yourself.
My go-to party meal is carne asada fajitas, with the meat from a carniceria where you have to order in Spanish (it’s AWESOME), homemade guacamole, and mint lemonade. Surprisingly like your meal there, actually! It’s fair because I have to go buy the meat, and then my English-speaking husband grills it. :)
Grilled pork chops, black beans and rice (Brazilian style!), roasted broccoli and spinach salad. This cook book looks great…and I loved your post!

We often do homemade pizza, which is wonderful because it’s easy to customize even after the guests arrive, and everybody likes pizza! I even did a cheese-less, oil-free, vegan pizza for a friend the other night – still good! I love the oregano tip from your site, by the way. I’d been sprinkling with sea salt, but the oregano kicks up the flavor without the sodium spike. Thanks!
my go-to meal for company is your bacon artichoke pasta bake with your guiltless alfredo.
I love to make different things, but usually when having a dinner party my go to is breaded chicken breast with a cream and mushroom sauce, ‘yellow’ rice and steamed veggies. For dessert- triple chocolate cake! It is my mom’s recipe and everyone love it. Yum!!

Being half Italian, we always have gravy/pasta sauce, pesto and imported parmesan in the house. My go-to meal is any kind of pasta using any of those three. Very yummy. :-)
My go-to menu plan when guests come over is to send my husband out to the grill. I’m not so handy with cooking meat, so I like to let him get his grill on.

I think baked pasta of some kind, bread and salad is always the easiest thing for me when company is over.
Our go-to meal is usually Spaghetti & salad. It’s something that you can’t go wrong with, especially with kids. Noodles can be eaten plain, with butter, ranch, or sauce -the pickiest of kids/adults will be satisfied!

My go to meal is pulled pork :)
As long as I know my company my favorite go to meal is fish tacos. I grill talapia and shred it. Make a “salsa” out of mango, cucumber, onion salt pepper and lemon juice. Serve it in 2 corn tortillas (like street tacos) with couscous on the side. It would be so good with your virgin margaritas!!!

My go to food is Taco soup! Its so so yummy and quick!
Baked chicken, roasted potatoes, and your caramelized green beans. People LOVE them!!
It’s nothing too fancy, but my go-to are EBBQ sandwiches. They used to be sold at Einstein Bagels and are shredded BBQ chicken with red onion and tomato on a roll, served with kettle chips. (And whatever else you feel like, of course.)
Mac n cheese!!
I’m famous for my chili, and especially love to make it this time of year when the weather is getting chillier (Ha! pun intended) but there are still plenty of fresh tomatoes in the garden. The flavor of the chili is so much better when the tomatoes are fresh instead of canned! We use the leftovers the next night to make Nachos Grande with chips, chili, olives, onions, tomatoes, cheese…whatever is available! A minute or two under the broiler to melt the cheese…YUM!
My go to meal when having company over is buffalo chicken dip and maybe order a pizza or make burgers or tacos :)

When the temp is cool outside I have this great Italian soup that I served with chili French bread and when it’s warm Souvlakia with salad, pita bread and lemon rice. All these recipes were tried and tested then passed down from my family (who is usually my company) so it’s works out pretty well for us.
Cheese enchiladas or spaghetti
I have this bad habit of trying something new whenever we have guests. Makes me a little crazy sometimes, but it all usually turns out great. One thing I like making for guests is pork tenderloin–I have a mustard crusted recipe from Cooking Light that I love.
