Creamy Chocolate Fudge

I am an admitted holiday slacker. You know how Sara spends 3 days decorating her house for every holiday and says things like her epic Valentine’s Day breakfast are no big deal? I would love to be awesome like that, but alas, I am not. I am a low-key holiday-er. Now, granted, we just got back from vacation… and during the last few days of our vacation, I caught a little virus and haven’t been feeling great. And even though …

My step-mom, delighted at the idea of company, made us a pie. And it was a reaaaaaaally good pie. It was a pear pie, but instead of being kind of …

Flower Turkeys

Our little Oreo Turkeys were such a hit last Thanksgiving that I wanted to find another crafty turkey project to make and share this year.  And I found it.  I’m so in love with these little guys; and they’re so easy!  I found the idea on our good friend Steph’s blog, Crafting in the Rain. Steph is one of the craftiest (and kindest) people I know and always has such fun little projects that inspire me.  I made 5 of …

Baking up Some Love

So yesterday was kind of one of those days. First of all, it was a Monday, which is never good for anyone. Second, because Thanksgiving is next week,  my kids have a short school week, which means that on Thursday morning, we are leaving the first real family vacation (like where we’re not shoehorned into someone’s spare bedroom/couch) we’ve taken in 6 1/2 years (so pretty much my kids’ whole lives). As excited as we are to go, there is …

Kate’s Thanksgiving Turkey

This is our 4th Our Best Bites Thanksgiving, so we’ve been doing this long enough to have noticed some interesting patterns. Every year, we get lots and lots of visitors in October and lots and lots in December, but November is always kind of a slow month. We’ve always been puzzled because if there’s a month we should be hitting it out of the park, it’s November, the delicious month that marks the beginning of holiday poundage. And then we …
