Happy Fourth of July!

Our sincerest apologies for the crazy week we had with our site down.  I feel like I’mplaying catch-up a little.  We had to cancel some posts, obviously, so we’re rearranging a bit!  Everyone has been begging to sneak a peak of Kate’s new little one, so you’ll get that Friday (yay!) and then we’ll be back to yummy food next week.  We also have several giveaways going up on the Scoop this month- first one heading your way on Tuesday, so make sure to check there often during the next few months!

I’m guessing a lot of you are already out enjoying the holiday today, but for anyone who’s around and looking for something to take to a BBQ today, here’s a few of our favorite red, white, and blues!

You could probably still pull off this fun, striped Jell-O if you start it asap so it has time to chill!  I’ve seen lots of people cutting it into stars and it looks sooooo cute.

One of my kids’ favorites- layered Red, White, and Blue drinks!

Super, duper easy.  If all else fails- whip up some patriotic Strawberries!

Kate’s gorgeous Chocolate Berry Trifle looks stunning on a holiday table.

These little snack bowls are a great DIY for older kids, and made from paper plates!

One of my all-time faves (and on my menu this year) Cookie Fruit Pizza.

One of the first Fourth of July posts I ever posted, and still one of my favorites.  Everyone loves a mini pie 🙂

This is one of our favorite holidays, and we hope you all have a good one too!  Remember, we have tons of great BBQ recipes in our Grilling Section, great salads for potlucks in our Salad Section, and tons more treats!  What’s everyone making to eat??

Questions & Reviews

  1. I love the 4th of July treat bag toppers. Are they something you make that I can purchase from you?

  2. While I do LOVE your recipes, this is better than any kind recipe. What a beautiful baby w/ that perfectly round head……so precious. Congrats to your family.

  3. Oh, so happy for you. Thank you for letting us glimpse into your sweet family. I just love your site, your recipes, your hilarious remarks, and your sharing. I follow religiously! Keep up the great posts.

  4. What are you calling your beautiful baby, Kate? He does not look at all like a newborn. Hope he is the delight of your life!

  5. Congratulations!! I love baby stories and baby pictures and wanted to thank you for your wonderful website and your willingness to share your lives with all of us! Congrats again!

  6. So glad to see your site up and running again! I tried several times the other day to go to your site and it wouldn’t work. It was driving me nuts! haha I thought it was our computer though, so it’s good to know it wasn’t. These 4th of July ideas look fabulous! (And P.S. I can’t wait to see a pic of Kate’s new baby on Friday!!)

  7. Oh my, I was sooo lazy yesterday. Our big dinner consisted of leftover coleslaw and greenbeans, and frozen Costco hamburger patties on the grill. The big treat was store bought hamburger rolls. We ate outside since it was a little cooler. I did manage to hang the flag out.

  8. Your candy corn cupcakes sparked the idea to make red, white, and blue cupcakes. I used your moist cake recipe and dyed half blue, half red, and using ziplock bags layered them into mini cupcakes. Topped them with your perfect frosting (heavenly!) and sprinkled with red, white, and blue sprinkles. They were a big hit and very festive!

  9. my fave are the strawberries! happy red, white and blue to you too…and glad to see you’re back!
    Best…

  10. I am making the layered drinks – I spent all day yesterday making those cute star-shaped ice cubes and I am so excited! I think my kids will love it, and it’s even a mini-science-lesson on density. (I used to be a science teacher, so I love any opportunity to make science fun!) We will also have the usual burgers and dogs, some fresh salads that are healthy and delicious, baked beans, and watermelon for dessert. Plus smores for the kids. How’s that for a spread?
