Owl Sugar Cookies {With a Trick!)

Happy Halloween!  I just have to first say thank you to everyone who gave me family Halloween costume ideas on Facebook a few weeks ago.  I think I am set for the next 10 years now!  We ended up going with the Avengers (like probably half the rest of America) because I’m super on top of things and scrambled to find costumes yesterday afternoon.  Yes, the day before Halloween.  (Like I said, I’m super on top of things.) And those …

Veggie, Hummus, & Feta Wrap

Those of you who anxiously wait up for our posts to go up each night probably noticed that our posts were late going up both on Friday and this morning. I was originally scheduled to post this on Friday. I had about 90% of it written before we left on our trip to Utah and I was going to finish it up on Thursday night when we had a family emergency. Not like a Kate emergency where I run out …

Spooky Halloween Fountain

Kate and I are in chilly Salt Lake City this week. Don’t forget you can come see us at the flagship Deseret Book Store (right across the street from Temple Square) tomorrow, Saturday the 27th from 5-6:30 pm.  That’s a different time than was originally announced, so please take note!  We’ll also be in Phoenix, AZ in one week and you Arizona peeps can come visit us in Mesa!  See the end of my last post for details on that. …

Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Bread

When Kate and I were in Logan, UT a couple of weeks ago, she took me to the Old Grist Mill, which is a charming bakery filled with homemade breads, cookies, and all that good stuff.  As she was buying a loaf of chocolate chip pumpkin bread, I was reminiscing about the fall season and how when I was in college, my roommates and I would always go to our local bakery and grab loaves of chocolate chip pumpkin bread …

Kate’s Fall {Un-Friday} Faves

So a few weeks ago, Sara did the first of what we hope will become a semi-regular thing on the blog–a post of her favorite healthy snacks. I was planning on doing one this Friday (you know, in keeping with the whole “Friday Faves” thing), but let me tell you about my weekend and hopefully you’ll understand why I’m doing it today. Even if it means no recipe today. Last Friday, Sara told you all about our adventures from the …

OBB Scrapbook

Yes, it’s ironic that I’m naming this post “scrapbook” seeing as both Kate and I are hideously awful at actual scrap-booking.  But that’s the point here.  I think subconsciously I’ll feel better about myself if I can manage a snap-shot synopsis of the past 6 months that at least my parents can look at!  I kept meaning to do some posts over the past few months to share some photos of what we’ve been up to and it just never …

Pretzel Rolls

Last spring when Sara and I were traveling, we were at an event in Pennsylvania and they had these rolls backstage. Being the silly Western-raised girls that we are, we said, “Hey, these taste like pretzels! Only they’re rolls!” Little did we know that Pretzel Rolls are a thing, like a big deal. A big tasty deal, I might add. You know how there are ballpark/street vendor pretzels and there are mall/airport/Sam’s Club pretzels? And how the ballpark/street vendor pretzels have a …

Pumpkin Roll Pancakes

Someone made a comment last week on Kate’s Saucy Hot Dog post that I was like the nice angel on your shoulder and Kate was the naughty one.  It’s true I’ve been posting mostly healthy recipes lately, but the two of us definitely trade off those roles (haha, I just wrote “rolls” and had to correct it) to keep a nice balance around here!  This week, I’m the naughty angel on your shoulder.  The kind that tells you it’s okay …

Saucy Hot Dogs

First of all, to all our Logan, Utah peeps–we know you guys always get the short straw when it comes to book signings, but both of us will be doing a book signing at the Deseret Book store in Logan at 7:00 TONIGHT! Please come! So you know how I have this thing where I feel like my family and I need to eat Sloppy Joes after we’ve been trick-or-treating? Oh, wait, you probably didn’t know that. But I do–I …

Black Bean and Sweet Potato Turkey Chili

So last week I explained a new feature you’ll be seeing pop up around here every once and a while called “Friday Faves.”  You can click on my last post and read the intro to see what it’s all about.  While these totally aren’t meant to be *giveaway* posts, that’s not to say we can’t give anything away every once and a while.  I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who jumped on that post and left comments, because …
