Happy New Year’s Eve 2012!

The new year is always an interesting time for me–sometimes I’m sad the year is over and sometimes I’m relieved, excited to get a fresh start. I’m feeling a little bit of both this year. Sara posted on her personal Facebook yesterday that she has boarded 42 planes this year. If I’m calculating it right, I’ve boarded 37. It’s really not nearly as glamorous as it sounds. We’ve published our 2nd book in as many years, spoken in 8 cities …

Asian BBQ Chicken

Now that summer weather is finally starting to peek out in my neck of the woods, I’m pulling out some of my most favorite grilling recipes.  This one is on my most-requested list. That may be because I make it so often for company. And that may be because it’s always a reliable hit. It’s one of the very first recipes I ever posted here on the blog and it was long overdue for a photo makeover!  If you haven’t …

4th of July Party Food {and some announcements!}

Hello everyone!  We have had such a busy week here at OBB.  In fact, we have so much going on that we’ll probably sneak in an extra post this week to fit it all in.  First of all, thank you all so much for the well-wishes you sent my way.  We welcomed boy #3 into our house this past Friday and I’ve been doing nothing but stare at those adorable little toesies ever since.  If you’ve emailed or commented and …

Fried Rice

After a lovely couple of weeks where we took a semi-break, we have officially re-entered the blogosphere! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season! This fried rice is inspired from the same restaurant as our Sweet and Spicy Honey-Grilled Shrimp. It’s not your typical Chinese restaurant-type fried rice; it’s a bit milder and has a little more Polynesian flair. It goes great with Teriyaki Chicken or it’s slightly naughtier cousin, Bacon-Wrapped Teriyaki Chicken Bites. Or try it with Asian …

How To: Grill Pizza on the BBQ

You should know by now that Kate and I are big pizza fans. Actually, we’re fans of most everything in the white-starchy-carb family and also the hot gooey cheese family. So naturally, pizza finds its way to our hearts. You should also know by now that I’m kind of obsessed with the grill and I’ll try to find a way to cook just about anything on it. Grilled pizza is waaaay up high on my list of favorite summer foods. …

Sweet and Savory Coconut Rice

Hey, everybody! After a sunburn, a wedding, waaaaaaaaaaay too much time on an airplane with a toddler seemingly possessed by Satan, and a week’s worth of too little sleep and too much fun, I am BACK from this: and this: and this: to this: That’s okay, though. There’s no place like home, even though I had to kill a few rogue cockroaches once I got here! Anyway, it looks like Sara totally rocked it (of course) with spa week! Now …

Orange Thai Beef Skewers

I started the poll on the sidebar last week because I wondered if I was the only one who used an outdoor bbq almost every day this time of year. Apparently I’m almost the only one, lol. There weren’t too many of you there with me, but a large majority are grilling at least a couple of times a week, so that’s good! I’m going to tell you right now that you’ll be seeing a lot of grill recipes from …

Asian BBQ Chicken Pizza

Alright, this is the follow-up recipe to the Asian BBQ Chicken I posted last week. I have a small family so when I’m planning on having the chicken, I usually just plan on transforming the left-overs into pizza the next day. I really love this pizza. It’s sweet and tangy and cheesy and delicious. During the summer, I always always make all my pizza on the grill anyway, but since you’re using bbq-grilled chicken, it’s extra yummy to have the …

Guiltless Alfredo Sauce

Alfredo sauce is one of those things that I only splurge on in restaurants, and even then only once in a while. 1, because it always tastes so good (the jarred kind makes me gag) and 2, because that’s as often as my hips can handle it. I found out my favorite restaurant alfredo dish has a over a thousand calories and a whopping 55 grams of fat! However, Alfredo sauce is also one of those things that was always …
